Current research and professional activity related to beekeeping
Dr. Janko Božič, University of Ljubljana - Slovenia - EU, Biotechnical faculty, Department of biology

Basic research is focused to behavior and physiological studies of social communication in honeybees. This is well tide to the major application research related to beekeeping technology and to the potential use of honeybees as a monitoring tool for environment. As a university teacher I'm most occupied with teaching of ethology lab (animal behavior), general entomology class and beekeeping class.

Beekeeping development
Sustainable beekeeping can support agricultural production and produce valuable products for local community. It has been proven that simple hive system is the best solution in developing countries. TBH (Top Bar Hive) system is spreading among hobby beekeepers in Europe and USA along with developing countries. Commercial large scale production has to be established on modern hive system which enables higher efficiency. Technology is well developed but needs adjustment in tropical environment.
